- American Cougar Martial Arts now has new "Student Leader" and "Junior Leader" positions. These Leadership positions are for adults and youth interested in assisting with classes. These roles are the primary path to the Assistant Instructor or Instructor levels. Students must ask to try out for the position. Successful completion of a 4-month evaluation process and final exam are required to be accepted. Not all students will pass the first time. Students must hold a minimum rank of Yellow Belt, have been in ACMA for one year, and must demonstrate the 5-tenets in class to try out for a Leadership position.
- The requirements for Instructors and Assistant Instructors have been completely revised. Please see Mr. Thompson or Debbie for information on the new requirements. Note that Assistant Instructors must hold a minimum rank of 1st Gup (Red/Black) and Instructors must hold a minimum of 1st Dan. There are additional requirements. Ask if you are interested.
- Face Shields in 2012. In 2012, face shields will be required for adults starting on January 16th and the youth by June 16th . We have switched most of our small inventory. Although face injuries are rare, they can and will happen. The additional $25 to $50 investment is important with soaring medical and dental costs. Some of the face shields purchased in the past can be upgraded.
